Tipton is located in Moniteau County and situated almost exactly in the center of the state. It is on U.S. Highway 50 and State Highway 5, which connect with Highway 65 on the west, Interstate 70 on the north, Highway 63 on the east, and Interstate 44 on the south. 

Nestled in a comfortable climate at 910 feet above sea level, the average temperature is 55 degrees.  Average annual rainfall is 37 inches with an average of 20 inches of snow each year.
